Robert Gomez Jr. Memorial Scholarship Bike Rally (# 2122)23-Jun-2007
(Saturday)Los Lunas, NM
I lost my brother, Robert Gomez Jr. in a motorcycle accident on June 11, 2006. We are a motorcycle family, and riding has been a family event. Even with my brothers death, it has not discouraged us to continue to ride. If was pretty difficult at first for my mom and dad to continue to ride, however by dad was an extra in the movie Wild Hogs and they were filming during the month of June but with encouragement by dad continued to attend the shoots in honor of my brother because he was so proud that our dad was going to be in this movie. He did miss some key scenes because the funeral was held the week of June 15 which I understand was the week they blew up the bar. To this day my dad says those few weeks were extremely difficult for him to drive to the set each day with this whole ordeal so fresh. But my mom and dad now ride regularly. Since his death my uncle, two aunts and a best friend have each purchased a bike. We are all professional people that love the freedom of the road and we want to continue to ride in his honor. In his memory, we are hosting a Scholarship Bike Rally. It is schedule for Saturday, June 23rd. Robert was self-employed and one of the biggest problems he faced was hiring qualified employees. He was a heavy-duty mechanic and welder. We are starting this scholarship fund to offer to potential students that will be attending mechanic or welding schools. We are approved by IRS as a non-profit organization, with the hopes of continuing this event each year. Robert’s business was a great success and we are very proud of that success. He was 41 years old, married 25 years with 3 daughters and two grandsons. Robert lived life adventurous. He worked hard and he played hard. In addition to his business, in 2006 he was starting another business, HDS Custom Choppers. He had purchased a lot of equipment to start this venture but he never got the opportunity to build not even one! He also raced winged sprint cars. He followed the circuit throughout the southwest. You can see his memorial on www.SCOA.com. We are a large family with experience in putting events together. Therefore we are anticipating this event should be a great success. However with your attendance, we can surely bank on a successful event! The more money we raise, the more scholarships we can offer. We are great fans of your show, I particularly can relate because Paul Sr. reminds me of my dad, Paul Jr. reminds me of my brother, Robert Jr., and Mikey reminds me of my other brother Randy. It's a hoot! Please consider our request. Marketing this event with the appearance of OCC would no doubt guarantee this event would be a huge success! We are currently working on a website for our event for early registration. As soon as that is up, I would like to invite you to visit our site. Thank you for your consideration.
