The Lake Erie Loop (LEL) is a fundraising event tobenefit the "AluminumCans for Burned Children" Foundation (ACBC). ACBCprovides many services forpediatric burn victims, mostly through the donation ofdiscarded aluminum cans. The foundation provides medical supplies includingspecial bandagingmaterials needed for the care of burns, a scholarshipfund and a summer andwinter camp, all at no cost to the children or theirfamilies. The "Learn Notto Burn Trailer" is another feature of ACBC. Thisadolescent sized two storyhouse trailer visits elementary schools in North EastOhio to teach youngstudents about burn safety in their own homes. Raising additional cash for ACBC throughmotorsports was started in 2003when Brookpark, Ohio firefighter Bill Murar, an avidmotorcycle enthusiast, rode over 12,000 miles to the four corners of theUnited States, many of themon a 1965 Sears 106SS motorcycle. Bill is continuing hisfundraising effortsin 2006 by sponsoring the Lake Erie Loop, a 650 mileendurance run around thelake to be completed in one day. There will be two distinct groups involved in thisevent; under 225ccbikes that will be competing for cash prizes andunlimited size bikes riding along for fun.
