Jody Saxon Benefit Ride (# 17519)17-Oct-2010
My name is Miriam Farmer and I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to share with you something that is very dear to me.I have a dear friend, Jody Paul Saxon which is in need of a kidney transplant. Jody is 33 years old with a wife and two small children, ages 11 and 2. He was born with one kidney and a few years ago Jody was diagnosed with Kidney Renal disease. Jody's condition continues to worsen. He is now on dialysis three times a week, which is keeping him alive.A couple of months ago, I was informed that I am a perfect match for Jody. I have undergone all the testing and awaiting the doctors decision. With a positive outcome, I should be able to donate a kidney to Jody. We have been told that surgery could be by the end of October.Unfortunately, Jody has used all of his vacation time and does not qualify for short term disability. During the time of his surgery and recovery, Jody will not be bringing in any income to support his family. Let alone the cost associated with the transplant. After surgery, Jody will have to take immunosuppressant medications for the rest of his life. The approximate cost for this medication is $1800 per month. Medicare and Jody's insurance should cover 80% of this cost. This still leaves Jody paying a difference of $360 a month for his medication, as well as all other expenses associated with the transplant and lost time at work. Therefore, Jody and his family will have to rely on fundraiser and donations to help them through.I am asking for help to support Jody and his family through this trying time and his dream of living a longer and healthier life.
