Formotion Power Pod 2.0 Review (# 3) |
||||||||||||||||
Fact:
On the bottom of the Power-Pod there is a rectangle of about 0.5' x 3.75' with 3 threaded holes, right next to the holes is the lead (electrical) wire. The whole Formotion Power Pod is made out what seems to be solid polished steel. Point Of View:The absolute first thing that came to my mind as I was opening the Power Pod 2.0 package is that this is no toy, it is a well made, heavy duty 12V power outlet that will actually look good on a motorcycle. The Power-Pod itself is pretty heavy, it is made out of thick polished steel with very well made hinges for the front cap. The front cap is self-locking via a robber ring covered notch at the top of the pod (for water tightness). At the back of the Formotion Power Pod 2.0 there is a small attached robber cap that hides a 2 prong plug that can be used for any standard SEA plug such as heated clothing, trickle chargers, etc.The Formotion Power Pod 2.0 is one of these products that is an absolute pleasure to review, here is why: Formotion did not invent the wheel with the Power-Pod, they did not come up with any new technology or something that no one ever saw before...but what they did do is think out-of-the-box, they took an existing concept (12V Outlet) and turned it into an eye candy, fully functional, heavy duty motorcycle 12V outlet. And from the look of things they didn't spear any expenses, not only is the workmanship commandable, but they also included everything needed to mount/install the Power-Pod on a motorcycle. The only ""bad"" thing that I could find on the Formotion Pod (and I looked) is that it looks like the robber cap that covers the SEA plug on the back of the pod may rip-off in time (which is a very minor issue). Mounting: Pros:
Cons:None really, but if I have to pick I'd say the rear plug cover.Conclusion:These days everyone carries at least one gadget that needs to be charged or operate on electricity, it can be a cell phone, or a GPS, or a camera, or a laptop, or many other things. Having said that, there is no reason why the Power Pod 2.0 should not be installed on every motorcycle out there. It is a well made and functional 12V outlet that can be mounted on any bike.Ratings:
