We left the San Francisco Bay on Tuesday at around 12pm, 10 hours later riding in temperatures of mostly around 100 degrees we got to Laughlin, Nevada. We settled in our room at the Aquarius Casino Hotel and called it the night.
Wednesday was an interesting day, most of the vendors (probably a few hundreds) were still setting up their displays but we were able to walk around and talk to some of them. Other then the big companies like kuryakin, JP Cycle, and other national brands, I had the privilege to talk to some very interesting folks.
For example, Bam Inc with their really cool concept of "same bike, different look", they built a motorcycle with interchangeable bodies...yap, you heard it right. You can buy a completely different body style every year, the frame, motor, transition, wheels, etc, will stay the same, but the bike will look totally different.
Another very interesting person was Eric Herrmann, talking about talent!!!, this guy creates amazing motorcycle paintings...not cheap, but very high quality.
We spent most of the day walking around Laughlin and looking at the different motorcycle vendor booths. Toward the end of the day we road to a town out of the history books called Oatman in Arizona, just look at the pictures.
One thing that was a little disappointing in the first day of the Laughlin River Run is the night life...or a lack of, there were some outdoor stages with few bikers here and there but nothing that will make you want to drink your self silly, behave like an idiot, and regret it in the morning.
So far, it looks like the event is well organized with many different event hubs, there is plenty of literature with locations and schedule so bikers can find things to do and see.
