| submited by Lee on Jan-2011 This was my first time at a motorcycle supercross, and have to say that it's pretty cool. I attend motorcycle events for as long as I can remember, but all of them are biker rallies, poker runs, motorcycle shows, etc, this was my first time seeing a motorcycle race of any kind. Other than the race itself, the most noticeable thing for me was how different the crowed is. The bikers I usualy see are "bikers"...tattooed, bearded, biker boots and leather, the people at the supercross were mostly younger, lots of familes, and not "biker" looking at all (not a bad thing). The supercross race itself was a lot of fun to watch, these riders spend more time in the air than on the ground. The event started with a fireworks and a laser show, followed by some sort of the military ceremony. Since I am new the the supercross scene I didn't really recognize any of the names but I defiantly enjoyed the race. All in all this was a good experience, the Oakland Monster Energy Ama Supercross took place at the Oakland Coliseum, the event had the same atmosphere as a baseball game with hot-dogs, beer, and popcorn vendors walking around selling their goods. The only thing that reminded me of the biker events I'm used too, is a one half drunk girl flashing her boobs, other than that this was a family oriented motorcycle event. | |
